The windows and doors in each of the schools was replaced by a single contractor during one summer recess period. The caulking and glazing in each of the buildings contained asbestos so the windows had to be removed under controlled abatement procedures. The single-paned, non-thermal metal windows were replaced with thermal aluminum windows. Glazing studies were performed and the new glazing included various Low E glazing types as well as increased quantities of translucent insulated panels to enhance the thermal performance of the window walls in each school.
